ChinaMed Neck and Shoulder Formula 78c
Description
This is an empirical formula that has been developed to address arthritis in the upper body, specifically in the shoulders, neck, elbow and hands. It is based on the formula Juan Bi Tang (Formula to treat Bi syndrome) from 'Yang's Family Prescriptions' (yang shi jia zang fang), by Yang Tan, 1178. The original formula has been enhanced with the addition of Pueraria root (ge gen) and Morus twig (sang zhi), which focus the formula's action on the upper body.
It should be noted that this formula is suitable for Cold type conditions with underlying deficiency of the Qi and Blood and should not be used in patients with signs of Heat (e.g. red joints that are hot to the touch, fever, red tongue, rapid pulse).
