Description
This is a relatively modern formulation, known as Huo Luo Xiao Ling Dan (Salvia & Boswellia Formula) that was first recorded in 'Records of Heart-felt Experiences in Medicine with Reference to the West' (yi xue zhong zhong can xi lu) by Zhang Xi-chun, early 20th century. It was originally intended for the treatment of abdominal mass or localised pain.
The major herbs in this formula have strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic actions. This provides a fairly rapidly acting treatment for a wide variety of clinical problems with pain as the main feature.
TCM ACTIONS
Activates the Blood and dispels stasis, alleviates pain.

Obstruction of the Channels and Collaterals due to Blood stasis
INDICATIONS
Pain (e.g. due to arthritis, trauma, coronary heart disease, endometriosis, menstrual pain, neuralgia), arteriosclerosis, chloasma (dark spots on the skin), hepatomegaly, splenomegaly.
SIGNS & SYMPTOMS

- Swelling

- Dark spots or patches on the face
- Tongue may be dark or with purple spots
- Pulse is wiry or uneven

- Caution for those on anti-coagulant medications (i.e. Heparin, warfarin or aspirin).
- Caution in patients taking drugs to treat Parkinson's syndrome (e.g. levodopa).
- Not for use during pregnancy.
